Possilpark is situated in north Glasgow between Springburn and Ruchill. The area centres around Saracen Street and has been experiencing a regeneration after its industrial past. The area includes Hamiltonhill and Ashfield.
The Possilpark neighbourhood of Glasgow was created in the second half of the nineteenth century when the W MacFarlane & Co. Ltd foundry company, better known as the Saracen Foundry, was established in the Possil estate and built housing for 10,000 employees and their families. One of the many items produced by the foundry was the wrought iron of the Kibble Palace in Glasgow's Botanic Gardens. It is also one of only six locations which built the iconic K6 Red Telephone Box. Today the site is home to Allied Vehicles.
Saracen Streen runs through the centre of Possilpark and contains a variety of shops and other businesses. Over the past few years, Saracen Street has undergone some major redevelopment, which has included the improvement of the pedestrian areas and the building of Saracen House business centre and the £10m Possilpark Health Centre.
